Club October Night Ride

Club Night Ride – Wednesday, October 24th

Night rides are different and fun, we very seldom get to ride at night. The date for the ride just happens to be the date for the full moon. Many of our machines have auxiliary lighting installed, you know those really neat looking light bars on top of our machines that we never get to use. The machine lights and the auxiliary lights can be very bright, especially for the machine in front of you. Night rides require more spacing between machines so the driver in front of you is not blinded by the following machine’s lights, a little courtesy to your fellow drivers is call for here.

The ride is from a parking area along the FS-139 road to the Wild Woman Saloon for supper. The first half of the ride is on mostly two tracks from the staging area to the saloon. The return ride is mostly on roads, total ride distance is around 43 miles. This is an easy and not fast ride Fred Parry did for friends last month during the full moon. The ride will depart the staging area at 5pm, this is late enough so lights will be needed before we arrive at the saloon. The return time will depend mostly on how long we linger over supper, it is safe to say it will be after 8pm.

The staging area is located on the FS-139 road, south of Hwy 260 (turn left), a mile or two west of Clay Springs.   The staging area is about ½ mile off of the highway. We will depart from the staging area at 5pm.

For others, I will be leaving at 4:15 PM, from the turn out and cinder pile just west of the turn off for Lone Pine Dam Rd. (Hwy 260). Then we’ll trailer on over to the FS-139. I expect 40-50 miles and a good moon. It’s getting chilly at night so dress accordingly. Questions? You can email me at cewoodretired@fastem.com or call me at 928-242-3430. I need to let the saloon know how many will be arriving for supper, so it is important to let me know if you plan to participate. I need to have a head count by Monday, October 22nd so I can notify the saloon. Riding with friends, supper with friends, friendly conversations with friends, it does not get any better. Plan to join us for this fun event.

Weather can have a significant impact of club rides, especially night rides. If it becomes necessary to cancel the ride due to weather a cancellation notice will be sent to the club via email.
